The 26th annual staging of the Rebel Salute Festival takes place on the 18th & 19th of January in Jamaica at Grizzlys Plantation Cove, Priory, St Anns, Jamaica. This is Jamaica's biggest Festival of Reggae Music where all the performers are 100% Reggae artists.
Rebel Salute will feature musical icons such as Ken Boothe, Wailing Souls, Capleton, Luciano, Queen Ifrica, Chalice, Dawn Penn (sponsored by SABA & Song for Jamaica), Cat Coore, The Wailers and Rodney Price aka Bounty Killa. This 2 day celebration of Reggae displays the real cultural essence of Jamaica. This authenticity extends to the fact that alchohol is not served at the Festival and vegetarian dishes take priorty across all the food stalls.
Amongst the line up will also be a special performance by the driving force of the Rebel Salute Festival, Tony Rebel. The event was started by him 26 years to celebrate his birthday and has grown stronger every year since.
This festival now has a unique section within its set up as it promotes the positive qualities of one of the earth's most valuable of natual resources, marijuana "The healing of the nation". This is showcased through the "Herb Curb" area of the Rebel Salute grounds. Here, patrons can learn about all aspects of this sacred plant which go way beyond just smoking it and informs of its medicinal, spiritual and health enhancing qualities.
In addition, for the first time, Rebel Salute has partnered with Song for Jamaica to provide a performance opportunity with a specially selected rising star. The artist selected for this opportunity is the great Sheldon Senior, the 2018 winner of Reggae Star Factor in London and is part of "The Preservation of Reggae" initiative to keep Roots, Rock, Reggae alive for the next generation.
